Thieves steal watches 'worth hundreds of pounds' from Portsmouth jewellers and damage salon's windows

WATCHES worth hundreds of pounds have been stolen in a raid on a jewellery store.

Windows at Franks Jewellers in Cosham high street and adjoining property Unique Lash & Brow Bar were smashed between 2am-4am today.

Police are now investigating. Staff at the jewellers were yesterday busy filing insurance claims and clearing up.

A pickaxe-type tool was seen on the ground outside the stores this morning.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘We’re investigating reports of a burglary at Franks Jewellers in Cosham High Street.

‘The business was targeted in the early hours of this morning (18 March) and hundreds of pounds worth of watches are (believed) to have been stolen.

‘Damage was also caused to the window of a neighbouring nail bar.

‘Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44200101373.’
