Third person arrested in connection with fatal stabbing in Leigh Park

A third arrest has been made in connection with the death of a man in Leigh Park.

Officers initially arrested two men on suspicion of murder after the 21-year-old was found dead in Tichborne Grove at about 11pm on Saturday (May 23).

A 27-year-old woman, from Southsea, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with ‘serious’ injuries. Both victims suffered stab wounds in the incident.

Murder arrests as two people stabbed in Leigh Park

Today a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson confirmed a third person, a 33-year-old woman from Havant, had been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

She remains in custody at this time.

Officers have been granted extra time to question the 25-year-old man from Cambourne, Cornwall arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 31-year-old man from Hayling Island who was originally arrested on suspicion of murder has been further arrested for assisting an offender. He also remains in police custody at this time.

Forensics officers have been at the scene today and officers are continuing to conduct enquiries in the area.

Police have also reiterated that the investigation is not related to the Louise Smith murder case.
