Three people arrested after police find bloodied man seriously hurt in garden in Paulsgrove

DETECTIVES cordoned off a house in Paulsgrove after a man was found critically injured in a garden.

Officers were call to Tunstall Road at 8.20am on Saturday to a report of a stolen vehicle.

However, when police arrived they found a bloodied male with ‘serious injuries to his leg, head and face’.

He has since been taken to hospital where he remains in a ‘stable condition’.

Three people, a 38-year-old man, 43-year-old woman and 42-year-old woman, all from Portsmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the attack.

They are currently in custody being quizzed by detectives.

The house where the attack took place has been cordoned off, with forensic officers in white overalls sweeping the garden for clues to the assault.

Neighbours have since described how scores of police arrived at the scene early this morning.

One 33-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I woke up at 9am and there were police everywhere.

‘I thought someone had been killed with the amount of police in the street.

‘There must have been 10 police cars, three meat wagons and there were paramedics too. There were loads of them.

‘CSI (crime scene investigators) have been in and out of the house where it happened all day.’

Bintar Jaiteh, 49, lives near to where the attack took place and said she was shocked by what had happened.

‘I heard someone screaming at about 8am,’ she said. ‘I think it was a man who was screaming.

‘It was quite scary.’

Detectives have been carrying out door to door enquiries throughout the day and have urged residents to ‘speak to them’ if they have ‘any concerns’.

‘We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything,’ a police spokeswoman said.

‘We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash cam, or Ring Doorbell footage of the area.’
