Travellers who arrived in Gosport move to Fareham before Hampshire police catch up with them

A GROUP of travellers who arrived in the Fareham area yesterday evening have been moved on by police.

According to reports, six caravans drove into Gosport via Lee-on-the-Solent yesterday, before being found this morning at Cams Hall Estate in Fareham.

Police were seen talking to the travellers on the estate today.

Deputy leader of Gosport Borough Council, Cllr Graham Burgess, said: ‘They first came to Gosport and pulled up in Holbrook Field, before looking around the town.

‘Council officers pursued them until they left the area and went to Fareham, where they stopped at Cams Hall at roughly 10pm last night, from what I’ve been told.

‘We’re linked up with the police and have made sure they didn't return.’

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary added: ‘Officers attended an unauthorised encampment this morning at Cams Hall Golf Club in Portchester Road, Fareham.

‘The group have moved on from the site and officers have now left the area.’
