Tributes as dad-of-three, 70, dies after crashing into lamppost in Bedhampton

Family members have paid tribute to a ‘kind’ dad-of-three who died after his sports car crashed into a lamppost.

Andrew Biddlecombe, 70, was in the grey Morgan Plus Four, an open-top car, when it crashed into a lamppost on a crossing island.

Police were called to the incident in Portsdown Hill Road, at its junction with Nelson Road, in Bedhampton on Friday, July 10 at 9pm.

Mr Biddlecombe, of West Street, Havant, had recently celebrated his birthday and will be ‘greatly missed,’ his family said in a statement.

They said: ‘Andrew had recently celebrated his 70th birthday with his family and three children, who he loved very much.

‘Known as a kind, calm and patient man, he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.’

Mr Biddlecombe died at the site of the crash. His vehicle had overturned.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘Officers are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the collision and are keen to speak to anyone with information which may assist them.’
