Update as man hospitalised with injuries and police arrest two people

A man has been hospitalised with injuries after being stabbed in broad daylight this afternoon - and two arrests have been made.

Emergency services blue-lighted to Tangier Road this afternoon after receiving reports of a stabbing at 3.35pm, prompting a major response consisting of police and paramedics.

The police have now confirmed a man has been taken to hospital for treatment and a 39-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 44-year-old woman from Portsmouth has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Police remain in the area but there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.”
