A STOLEN car was tracked down by police – just as the alleged thieves were returning to the vehicle to drive it away.

PCSO Naismith and PCSO Bell from the Hilsea, Copnor, Drayton and Farlington Neighbourhood Policing team said on social media on Friday: ‘This afternoon we've arrested a 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman from Havant in connection with the theft of a vehicle from an address in Hilsea last week. Both have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and are currently in police custody. We have been investigating over the past week and thanks to intelligence passed to us by members of the community we managed to locate the vehicle in Havant, just as our arrested people walked around the corner to drive it away!

‘Intelligence and reports from the community can be so helpful to our enquiries.’
