UPDATE: Four bailed after Portsmouth '˜clown mask' stabbing

FOUR people have been bailed by police after their arrest in the wake of the Portsmouth '˜clown mask' stabbing.

A 34-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, both from Southsea, have been released on bail until Tuesday, December 20, and a second 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, also from Southsea, have been released on bail until Wednesday, December 21.

They were arrested after a 28-year-old man from Portsmouth was stabbed in Sedgley Close, Somers Town, at about 8.30pm on Thursday.

It is thought that the incident was sparked by an argument involving a child wearing a clown mask, who had been at a children’s party at the nearby Somers Town community hub.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged. Residents said they were shocked by what had happened.

Portsmouth’s top policeman Supt Will Schofield recorded a video plea after the incident urging everyone in the city to have a peaceful Halloween.
