Armed police and an air ambulance attended an incident that left a woman seriously injured and a man arrested for attempted murder.

Officers remain at the scene today following the horror incident in Evergreen Close, Waterlooville, around 10am on Saturday, that left two people needing treatment from an air ambulance crew.
As previously reported, a 50-year-old woman was treated at an address before being rushed to hospital for treatment following an alleged attack. A 52-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder and was taken to hospital for treatment to an arm injury.
A police spokesperson today said the arrested man remains in custody and confirmed to The News an armed response took place. Officers have been spotted at the address every day following the incident, with a force vehicle remaining at the scene today (Tuesday).
Locals reported seeing a massive emergency service response following the incident - with armed police seen in the area. “There were two ambulances, a few police cars and then just as I walked up the road the air ambulance landed in the fields just behind the houses,” one person said.
Another resident added: “Police were everywhere - it was also obviously a serious situation. Hopefully the woman is ok.”
A police spokesperson previously said: “Officers attended the scene and found that a 50-year-old woman had been assaulted. She was taken to hospital to receive treatment and has since been discharged.
“A 52-year-old man was also located inside the address with an injury to his arm. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in hospital.
“An investigation is underway, and officers will be in the area to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened. While our enquiries are at an early stage, we do not believe there is any wider ongoing risk to the community.”

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance said: “We deployed the air ambulance at 10.38am to an incident near Waterlooville on Saturday 10 January.
“The Critical Care Team consisting of a doctor and a specialist paramedic provided treatment to two patients before returning to base. Both patients were taken to hospital by road ambulance crews, not escorted by the air ambulance team.”
