Sussex Police said officers received a report of a house and garage being broken into in Lower Walls Walk, Chichester, around 9.45pm on Friday April 14.
The homeowner’s car and a bottle of wine were reported as stolen.
Shortly after the burglary was reported, police spotted the stolen vehicle in a nearby street, East Walls, and arrested a woman near the car, police said.
Cidney Greenshields, 26, of no fixed address, was arrested and later charged with burglary dwelling and theft, taking a vehicle without the owners’ consent and driving without insurance.
She was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court for the offences.
