David Cameron visits Westhampnett’s Rolls-Royce factory

PRIME Minister David Cameron has paid a visit to a major Westhampnett-based business this morning (February 18).

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, based near Chichester, welcomed the prime minister for a tour of the factory floor.

He also had a chance to meet employees and apprentices, before addressing everyone at an open forum.

He praised Rolls-Royce for being a ‘world leader’ in taking on apprentices.

The company describes its successful apprenticeship scheme as a ticket to ‘world-class training and mentoring, huge investment, a degree-level education and the potential to enjoy opportunities with us around the globe’.

The prime minister then answered questions on a wide range of subjects including the economy, the threat of ISIS, Russia and even on being an Aston Villa fan.

The company has also recently announced its expansion into Bognor Regis, with a new factory based off the A29 Shripney Road.

It was also mentioned today that Rolls-Royce is looking at investing in manufacturing all-terrain sports utility vehicle (SUVs).
