Debate to be held at Westminster on criticised NHS Trust

SUELLA Fernandes MP has called for a debate in Parliament to discuss the well-publicised problems at Southern Health NHS Trust.

The Fareham MP announced yesterday that she had secured a 90-minute Commons debate about the issue which will take place on Wednesday, June 8 at Westminster Hall debating chamber.

The trust was previously warned by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) last month to improve its ‘investigation and learning from incidents and deaths, to reduce future risks to patients.’

It was plunged into a sea of controversy following the publication of a damning report last month.Miss Fernandes said: ‘I am very pleased to have secured this debate. The issues surrounding Southern Health have caused huge concern for many people, and it is right that as MPs we get the chance to debate them in Parliament.’

Other MPs will also have the chance to speak before a Department of Health minister provides a response.
