TONIGHT sees the return to our screens of the second series of the compelling documentary Warship: Life at Sea.

The documentary follows the life of Captain Tom Trent and the crew of Portsmouth based HMS Duncan after its deployment to join a French aircraft carrier carrying out airstrikes against ISIS forces in Iraq and Syria.

The four part series gives an insight into what life is like on board the Royal Navy Destroyer during its seven month mission.

During the series the crew have to carryout an emergency rescue after one crew member falls overboard into the rough Mediterranean seas as well as deal with the potential threat of approaching Russian warships.

The series also charts the journey of a female lieutenant training to become a captain as she takes full control of HMS Duncan for 24 hours.

The programme gives an emotional insight as to what it is like for crew members being away from friends and family with one seaman having to deal with news that his wife has taken ill and been rushed to hospital.

The first episode will be screened tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm.
