HMS Prince of Wales: Best photos as Royal Navy carrier leaves Portsmouth

HMS Prince of Wales left her home port of Portsmouth for the first time this morning, and crowds gathered on the seafront to watch her departure.

She will now head to her affiliate city Liverpool where members of the public will be able to tour the Royal Navy aircraft carrier for the first time. She is due to arrive in the city on Friday February 28. Following her visit to city, the £3.1bn supercarrier is due to tackle her next phase of sea tests ahead of her first trials with the F-35 stealth jet.
