A commemorative flag-raising ceremony will be taking place to honour the ‘bravery and sacrifices’ of the armed forces.

The ceremony will begin at 10am, when the flag will be raised. Cllr Bradley said: “People are very welcome to join us at this flag-raising event, to begin the celebrations of our amazing armed forces community, their bravery and the sacrifices they make for our country."
Various dignitaries will be attending including the Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan, Captain Mark Hamilton, and Surgeon Captain Richard Heames, Commanding Officer of the Institute of Naval Medicine. Serving personnel at the Royal Navy base in Military Road will be in attendance, alongside local veterans.
