Man, 33, who crashed Ford Focus into tree arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving in Portsmouth

POLICE have arrested a suspected drug-driver after he lost control of his car and smashed it into a tree.

The incident took place in Holbrook Road, Landport, in Portsmouth at 6pm last night.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, veered off the highway and onto the roundabout before then crashing his silver Ford Focus into a tree.

He wasn’t hurt in the collision, police said, and no other vehicle was involved.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation. His car, a Ford Focus, was seized.’
