Royal Navy submarine captain who let crew have 'lockdown party' has been sacked

Social media footage emerged last week of the crew of the HMS Trenchant enjoying a barbecue after docking for repairs in its base of Devonport, in Plymouth.
The nuclear-powered attack submarine had returned after months at sea on manoeuvres.

Hide AdCdr Jonathan Lewis has now been relieved of his duties following a Royal Navy probe, BBC News reports.
Naval sources told the BBC he had been advised by senior officers on shore and some of his own crew not to go ahead with the party.

Cdr Lewis will remain in the Royal Navy but will be assigned a different role.

Hide AdTwo lower-ranking seamen were disciplined for refusing to comply with an order from a senior naval base officer who told them to end the party, The Sun newspaper reported.
