Thomas Hyom, one of the residents of the home, celebrated his 102nd birthday last month. He served as a Leading Seaman in the Royal Navy during the war.

The Spitfire will leave from Boultbee Academy at Goodwood and then head up to Waterlooville.

Others stops on the flypast include the home of Colonel Tom Moore, who raised millions for the NHS.

It will also flyover the Care for Veterans home in Worthing at around 1.20pm, as the 10th stop on the tour – with Waterlooville being the first stop.

The flyover has been organised by the Daily Mail, who were granted a one-off exemption by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
