At half past midnight, illuminated only by a few floodlights, LCT 7074 – a landing craft used in the D-Day assault on Normandy – left Portsmouth Harbour for Southsea Southsea Beach, ahead of reaching its final resting place at the D-Day Story Museum.

The video above shows the landing craft passing the Round Tower in Old Portsmouth, towed by two small tug boats.

Due to strong winds, the mission was aborted and LCT 7074 was taken back to Portsmouth Harbour.

She is expected to return to Southsea again tonight, with plans to move her to the museum in the following days.

After reaching the shoreline, the landing craft tank will have to wait for the tide to go out before she can be moved onto the road.
