The iconic World War 2 aircraft did a flypast of Wellington Vale Care Home in Waterlooville.

Thomas Hyom, one of the residents of the home, celebrated his 102nd birthday last month.

He served as a Leading Seaman in the Royal Navy during the war.

The visit to Waterlooville was the first stop on the Spitfire’s tour on Friday, which also included visits to Blechley Park, Colonel Tom Moore’s home and the house of Dame Vera Lynn.

The aircraft took off from Boultbee Academy at Goodwood.

The flyover was organised by the Daily Mail, who were granted a one-off exemption by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
