Do you recognise these Fareham sailors?

Nicholas How is a former commodore of Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club who is gathering the club's history.

It had its beginnings about 1850 which makes it one of the oldest of its kind. He thinks this picture shows members of the resurrected club in 1905, taken on the Cams Hall side of Fareham Creek. It’s the only picture of members from that time.

Nicholas says: ‘I’ve identified George Wassall, a well-known local blind boatman, who is fourth from the left in the floppy hat with a pipe, and Percy Westerman, the ripping yarns author on his right in the cap and with spectacles. Apart from that I have names but can’t put the names to any of the faces.

‘I wonder if readers can help us. I am sure some of the See family are there, of Percy See fame, but not sure where.’
