An eyewitness to the scene, Alexandru Brasaliga, said the commotion came as '˜a surprise'.

The 22-year-old, who works at Kens Kebab House and Speedy Pizza '“ close to where the crash happened '“ said: '˜We have cameras and I saw lots of traffic and people, so I went outside to see what happened.

'˜The front of the car was broken and you could see it was a car that hit the building.'

Mr Brasaliga said emergency services arrived on the scene '˜within five minutes' '“ but claims the driver of the car '˜looked okay' when he left his vehicle.

A crew from Fareham Fire Station, which attended the incident, left the scene after an hour.

The News has contacted Hampshire Constabulary and Scas for more information.
