Sweltering weather continues - clear up is underway after visitors flock to Southsea over the bank holiday
Litter and abandoned barbeques have been left across the city
The big clear up has continued this morning (May 25) with litter and abandoned barbeques left across the city as residents and visitors head out to enjoy the sweltering weather.
Workers have Portsmouth City Council have been out in force bagging up rubbish after the first two days of the busy bank holiday weekend, with litter bins overflowing and rubbish abandoned rather than taken home.

Southsea and Old Portsmouth continues to be a hotspot for litter issues with large numbers of visitors heading to the area enjoy the seaside as temperatures hit the mid twenties.
But litter bins and rubbish can also be found in other parts of the city, including at Farlington Marshes where bins are also overflowing and rubbish has also been dumped on the floor.

Before the bank holiday weekend Portsmouth City Council urged residents and visitors to clear up after themselves.

It said: “With a hot bank holiday weekend on the way, we’re looking forward to seeing the city full of people enjoying themselves. But… PLEASE put your rubbish in a bin.
“Portsmouth is brilliant. Litter isn’t. Don't be a din…put it in the bin.”
Temperatures are expected to hit around 25 degrees in the city again today, and slightly warmer inland.
