She said: ‘We are trying to encourage green recovery and investing in green jobs for the benefit of the economy and the climate.

People will be able to hear a varied set of ideas, and learn about what a green job is and what they could mean for the people of Havant.

‘There is such a lot of work that needs doing, it’s a long term investment that will pay off.

‘We want green jobs for people doing work that the community really needs over the coming years.’

Speakers will include Laura Ho from the national office of Green New Deal UK, as well as Gary Morton, chair of the Havant branch of Unison.

Margaret said: ‘We want to get a trade union’s view on what needs to be done to create more green jobs - so many people have lost their jobs over this time, and we want to see more investment in new and better jobs.’

Cllrs Julie Thain-Smith and Lulu Bowerman from Havant Borough Council will also be speaking.

Margaret added: ‘We will push the councillors on what they are doing - Havant Borough Council is one of the few councils who haven’t announced a climate emergency, and we want them to be open about what they’re doing to encourage green businesses within Havant and encourage green policies.’

After the speakers’ presentations, the meeting will be opened to the audience for questions.
