Fareham council confirms planning inquiry over potential Portchester estate

Persimmon Homes has appealed Fareham Borough Council’s decision to refuse the plans for the estate, off Cranleigh Road.

The appeal is the fourth time in the past 30 years that developers have called in a planning inspector over this site, with the local authority rejecting the developer’s plans for homes to West of Wicor Primary School in March this year.

A planning inspector, who is yet to be appointed, will hold a public inquiry to discuss the appeal early next year.

Councillor Nick Walker, chairman of the borough council’s planning committee, said: ‘All comments made previously about the planning inspection will be sent to the planning inspector for consideration.

‘Any additional comments must be sent by October 29.’
