Firefighters clear flammable liquid

FIRE services were called last night after a large quantity of flammable liquid was left disposed on the ground.

Around 10 litres of liquid, believed to be petrol, was cleared by firefighters in Mantle Road, Gosport, who were called to the scene at 7.14 pm.

The liquid was soaked by pads, which took just over an hour and firefighters left the scene at 8.38pm.

A spokeman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘One unit from Gosport was called to the scene at 7.14pm when we had a report of flammable liquid soaked into the pavement.

‘There was about 10 litres cleared by the use of pads, which has now been disposed of.

‘We have been in contact with the local authorities and the environmental agency to inform them.’
