First-time buyer success

THE news that 180,500 households have benefited from the cut in stamp duty has been welcomed by Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage.

In the 2017 Autumn Budget, the Conservative government cut stamp duty to help first-time buyers get on to the property ladder.

Since First Time Buyers Relief was introduced 95 per cent of first-time buyers have benefited from the changes. First-time buyers have saved £426m.

Ms Dinenage said: '˜It's been difficult to see families in Gosport unable to own their own house, often spending their wages on extortionate rental properties. I'm delighted to hear the Help to Buy scheme has helped residents get the property they deserve.'
