Flowers raise awareness
Seven members of the Rotary Club of Fareham planted the purple crocus corms in the Sensory Garden in Osborn Road to raise the profile of Rotarian efforts to prevent spread of the polio virus.
Fareham Rotarian Duncan Colin-Jones said: ‘The polio virus is nasty. It can cause irreversible paralysis of limbs, usually in children, and it can be fatal and yet there is an effective vaccine nowadays.’

Hide AdThe club chose purple as once a child has been immunised their little finger is dipped into a pot of purple dye so that it is clear that child has been immunised.
The display promises to make a big splash of purple in the spring.
