He also suffered 32 fractures to his ribs and nine fractures to his arms and legs sustained during three separate occasions.

Davis, of Lee Road, Gosport, and Davies, of Mayfield Road, Southampton are on trial accused of causing or allowing the death of the infant.

In Davies' police interview, read out in court by Richard Tutt, for the prosecution, the co-defendant admitted his girlfriend was unhappy about the attention he would give Stanley and was struggling to come to terms with how their relationship had changed.

'˜She would get jealous because I was doing the baby routine and not spending as much time on her,' he told police.

'˜One week after he was born Roxy was really down. She thought I didn't love her. I said 'Stanley's our priority now'.'

Davies also revealed how Davis punched him and smashed up the flat. '˜We had a big row and she punched me,' he told cops. '˜She smashed up one of my ornaments. It was a little argument but Stanley was not there at time.'

He also confessed that he was '˜hurt' when Davis would goad him for not being the biological dad. '˜I was heartbroken when she would say 'you're not his dad',' he said.

Davies admitted to police he had stopped taking his medication for anxiety and ADHD which his doctor conceded was '˜not a good idea'.

The defendant described Davis' friends as '˜evil and twisted' and blamed her family for being passive. '˜That's what I hate about her family - they do nothing. They just pussyfoot around her,' he said.

Referring to the video posted online of the baby fitting, Davies said: '˜I thought it was sick she put it on there. I still didn't like that she put it on there (before we found out he was fitting). I knew something wasn't right with him. His foot was going like a rabbit and he was making weird breathing noises.'

Despite their problems Davies said his girlfriend, who does not know who the biological dad is, would never hurt Stanley. '˜She never lost her temper at Stanley. She would never lay a finger on him,' he told officers.
