Gosport gardeners delighted after growing huge pumpkin

COUPLE Denise and Lesley Hall were the talk of the allotment as they produced a whopping 52lb pumpkin.

The amateur gardeners had never grown such a monumental gourd previously in the four years they’ve had their spot, in Camden allotments in Gosport.

Denise, 63, said she used seeds from last year’s crop to grow this year’s.

She said: ‘We’ve just been admiring how big it has grown but decided that the grandchildren would have fun carving it.

‘There were no others that people grew in our allotment that were bigger than ours.

‘My family couldn’t believe it and they all got a shock when they seen it.

‘I’ll be using the seeds from it for next year!’
