Hampshire police issue phishing warning

HAMPSHIRE Police have warned people about phishing via SMS messages.

Dubbed ‘smishing’, it uses your mobile phone to manipulate people into making a transaction with their bank card, claiming to be their credit card provider and asking for their bank details.

A spokesperson said: ‘Fraudsters are targeting victims.

‘The text message further states to confirm if the transaction is genuine by replying Y for Yes or N for No.’
