Here's everything you need to know about the Fareham rail line closure

Rail passengers are facing nine days of commuting troubles because of improvement works at Fareham railway station next month.

But here is everything you need to know if you will be travelling between the station between October 22 and October 31.

What if I’m travelling between London and Portsmouth?

South West Trains that normally run between Portsmouth and London Waterloo via Hedge End and Botley will instead terminate at Eastleigh.

Buses will then replace trains between Eastleigh and Portsmouth Harbour.

If you’re travelling on the 6.50am service from Portsmouth to London at 9.03am now, during the week you’ll have to leave at 5.55am to get to London at the same time.

What if I’m travelling between Southampton and Portsmouth?

South West Trains that normally run between Southampton Central and Portsmouth will terminate at Swanwick.

Buses will then replace trains between Swanwick and Portsmouth Harbour.

What if I’m travelling between Havant and Southampton?

No luck we’re afraid - Southern customers will need to use replacement buses to travel between Havant and Southampton Central.

Great Western Railway customers will need to use replacement buses to travel between Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central.

What do Network Rail say about this?

Colum Cavanagh, director of route asset management at Network Rail, said: ‘This is a case of short-term disruption which will result in longer-term benefits.’
