HMS Prince of Wales: Royal Navy's second carrier gets ready to join HMS Queen Elizabeth
ONCE complete next year, she will be handed over to the Royal Navy and fit for front-line duties around the globe from the year 2023.
Aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales is currently under construction at BAE Systems in Rosyth, Fife '“Â and these pictures show how she is progressing.
She will be commissioned in 2020 and is the secondÂ Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrierÂ under construction for theÂ Royal Navy '“Â plusÂ the seventhÂ Royal NavyÂ ship to have the nameÂ HMSÂ Prince of Wales.
Construction of the ship began in 2011, with some of the blocks built in Portsmouth and then sent up to Rosyth on a barge for assembly.
