I will unite mums across Hampshire, says website founder

AN INTERNET site uniting mums across the county is growing in popularity.

The Hampshire Mums website was set up by mother-of-two Gemma Christie, 31, to create a portal where mums can share their experiences, advice, and make new friends.

The website takes its inspiration from the ‘Instamum’ social media craze, where mums from across the world document their lives online. The community it creates is something that Gemma would like to replicate.

The website points mums towards different places to take their children, with a directory being compiled for every town in Hampshire.

Gemma, who is originally from Gosport but now lives in Warsash, said: ‘The idea is to not only create a community, but also a survival kit for mums.

‘There are blog posts on the site about things like fashion and other fun stuff like that, as well as advice for parents.

‘I’ve got two children of my own so I’ve experienced some of the problems first-hand.’

Hampshire Mums was set up in May and has already grown at a rapid pace, with almost 1,000 likes on its Facebook page.

Gemma is optimistic about the future and already has some big plans in the pipeline.

‘I’d love to do something big like an event at a lecture theatre,’ she said.

‘It would be fantastic to get a few speakers in and gather everybody together to hear about topics like balancing work and family, and nutrition.’
