Library celebrates its fifth birthday

STAFF at a library are celebrating five years since it opened.

Southsea Library, in Palmerston Road, Portsmouth, marks its fifth birthday on July 29.

To celebrate, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Ken Ellcome will visit the library and cut its birthday cake.

Between 10am and 3pm there will be rhyme time, creative writing for children between nine and 12, face painting, a quiz and music from the Pompey Pluckers.

Portsmouth Poet Laureate Sam Cox is also set to visit.

Author Pete Adams – known for his Bleunoir novels – will also be giving a talk and signing books.

At midday Cllr Ellcome will cut the cake and visitors will be able to join hourly tours of the Southsea Archive Repository, which isn’t usually open to the public.
