London Road accident: Police arrest Portsmouth man after incident in North End

A man has been arrested after an accident in Portsmouth this afternoon.Â

The incident happened on London Road at around 2.25pm today (September 14). 

Police confirmed that a car and a pedestrian were involved in a collision and that the car, a Honda Insight, did not stop at the scene but has since been located.

A Portsmouth man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time. 

Sue Taylor,  who works at Portsmouth Laundry, said: '˜I heard an almighty bang. I was out the back.

'˜The lady looked in a pretty bad way.

'˜It is not what you would expect on a Friday afternoon.

'˜It's really shook me. The noise I heard it wasn't a nice sound.' 

London Road was partly closed for several hours this afternoon but has since reopened and the police cordon removed.
