London Road in Hilsea Portsmouth closed as police and ambulance attend van crash

POLICE and paramedics are dealing with a serious incident on London Road in Hilsea.

The road is closed off both north and southbound through Hilsea due to a collision involving a van.

This vehicle has run off the road and smashed through railings outside a block of flats.

Hampshire Constabulary is calling the scene 'a serious single vehicle collision', and confirm that officers were called at 1.27pm.

Police cars are on the scene.

The ambulance service confirmed that it also attended the scene with three ambulance crews and an ambulance officer.

There is no fire service currently present.

The crash site is just next to the Beechwood Road junction, on the northbound route of London Road near Gatcombe Park.
