About 1,000 British personnel will be involved in this morning’s test. However, some 5,000 French and British personnel will be taking part in the exercise, one of the biggest of its kind.

It will see a UK-French headquarters planning and executing major land, sea and air activity for the first time to test how the two nations could combine in a rapid reaction coalition.
