Man named after tragic store building fall death

An inquest was yesterday opened and adjourned into the death of 56-year-old Christopher John Turner.

Mr Turner, from Lee-on-the-Solent, was pronounced dead at the scene in West Quay Road, Southampton, on November 9.

Police were called after his body was found at 11.19am.

An inquest has been set for February 20 next year.

Hampshire police last week said his death was not suspicious.

It comes after a 38-year-old woman died in fall from Ikea last December.

Following that incident the retailer said it would be reviewing car park safety.

Salma Azad, store manager, said: ‘We invested heavily to install a fence around the perimeter of the top deck of the car park.’
