A CHARITY working to provide assistance dogs to injured veterans has received a £35,000 boost.

Hounds For Heroes, run by Clanfield war veteran Allen Parton, has received the cash from Pets at Home.

It follows a nationwide fundraising drive involving more than 230 pet grooming rooms across the country.

The cash will help support two trainee assistance dogs.

Sarah Harold, office co-ordinator at the Petersfield charity, added: ‘Support on this scale really does send such a positive message to those serving Queen and country that folk at home really do care about them.

‘At this stage every single penny makes such a huge impact on and difference to our work.’
