It has been a busy year so far for the men of the shed, as they completed a project at Brockhurst Primary School after being contacted by Suzi Hoskins, the local schools project administrator.

The men made a path wider to make access easier for parents.

They also made the garden more usable for the children and they made and installed bird boxes and painted a shed.

After a shed member made such a good job of repairing a cannon outside the senior rates’ mess at HMS Collingwood last year, the Shed was asked if it could make a notice board for the Woodentots Nursery which was made and installed for them.

The chaplin at HMS Collingwood heard of the good work of the shed men, so he asked if they could repair the wooden cross outside the chapel.

This was delivered to the shed and is now under repair.

Other projects this year include making a garden usable again for the learning support department at St Vincent College. Some planters are currently under construction for outside the learning support classrooms.

The Fighting Cocks, in Clayhall Road, was helped by some shed members to prepare their garden borders ready for planting.

The shedders involved very much appreciated the vittles supplied.

A future project for the shed is to help HCC Highways with a project at the junction of Clayhall Road and Anglesey Road.

Members are very grateful for the support given by St Vincent College which has enabled it to grow into the largest Men’s Shed in the country.
