Military charities unite inside Royal Navy base

PORTSMOUTH played host to one of the biggest gatherings of military charities and non-profit organisations.

A total of 23 good causes united under one roof inside the base of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) on Whale Island.

The meeting was a chance for the welfare support networks to discuss the future charitable challenges within beneficiary groups of the naval service.

Topics discussed included identifying where beneficiaries’ needs aren’t being met and how to improve support.

Mandy Lindley, director of funding and relationships with the RNRMC, said: ‘This is the first time we have brought the naval benevolence charity community together to discuss the concept of “need” in the naval benevolence sector.’

She added the feedback was ‘invaluable’ in deciding funding priorities for the coming year.
