The event, at The Crofton Pub, in Hill Head, saw Jenny White and Trish Trigwell, both from Stubbington, raise nearly £1,000 for The Rowans Hospice.

Trish held a similar fundraiser last year, as she had battled breast cancer. Jenny was inspired to get involved and organise the night after her friend Jacqueline Goodfellow, from Hayling Island, died at home with the help of nurses from the Purbrook hospice last year.

Jenny said: ‘We raised £954.80, which was totally amazing considering the room was not packed, but the number of things we had to auction and raffle really made the night.’

Jenny thanked Hayley Fisher for performing on the night, Lorraine Close for reading a poem and Kevin Todd for acting as auctioneer. She also thanked landlady Jenny Readman for allowing them to hold the event.
