But the beloved family pet turned up unexpectedly 35 miles away in Essex when he landed on a member of the public.

Hide AdLucy Saw, 34, who lets Bertie out of his cage during the day, said magpies had chased the terrified parrot away while he was resting in a tree.
The mum to Joshua, eight, said: “I do not agree with keeping birds in cages so I let him out a lot, he even ended up in my airing cupboard the other day – so when we realised he had gone, we ran down the road.
“He was at the top of this tree having such a good time sitting and talking. “But I don’t think he knew how to get down, because he was used to staying indoors.
