Offbeat - Video: Wolf-whistling parrot reunited after 35 mile journey

Blue Indian Ringneck parrot Bertie escaped from a bathroom window last Tuesday sparking panic in the Saw household who ran down the road armed with the toilet roll, his girlfriend.

But the beloved family pet turned up unexpectedly 35 miles away in Essex when he landed on a member of the public.

Lucy Saw, 34, who lets Bertie out of his cage during the day, said magpies had chased the terrified parrot away while he was resting in a tree.

The mum to Joshua, eight, said: “I do not agree with keeping birds in cages so I let him out a lot, he even ended up in my airing cupboard the other day – so when we realised he had gone, we ran down the road.

“He was at the top of this tree having such a good time sitting and talking. “But I don’t think he knew how to get down, because he was used to staying indoors.
