I can't believe that it's just two weeks until Christmas!
I genuinely can't believe that Christmas is a mere two weeks away. How is this even possible?
I’ve done no late night shopping, no girly shopping trips with my mum and sisters and haven’t even put our tree up yet.
Yet I’m being forced to accept that Christmas Day is just over a fortnight away.
I hate the way that time flies when you get older. I remember when I was a child how it would feel like it took forever and a day for December 25 to come.
What I love most is the build-up – getting the decos down from the loft, wrapping all the presents under the tree and making sure that you’ve seen everyone you care about at least once over the festive period.
This year it just feels like it’s almost here and I’ve not had time to prepare.
I enjoyed reading Rick Jackson’s column yesterday about how nostalgic he feels about Christmas tradition.
I totally agree – in fact I’m a bit weird about my Christmas traditions.
I hate change and I like everything to be the same, down to the order of how things should happen on Christmas Day.
I admit to being weird about Christmas, but it’s just my thing.
Some people get excited about Easter, Valentine’s Day or their birthday, but for me its Christmas.
It’s the one day of the year where you can truly forget about everything else in the world and just be with your family and I love that.
Since my sisters have had children, that feeling of being a child again came flooding back.
I think it’s so important for them to have the traditions that we had growing up – not necessarily the same traditions, but for them to make their own.
My worry about the new generation is that they don’t value the importance of tradition and ensuring that once a year they all come together and put everything else aside.
My nieces and nephew are young and not capable of making their own decisions yet, but that’s where I come in.
As their auntie, I intend to ensure that they follow my path in that way and really feel the magic of Christmas.
So I’d better start getting in the mood!
I HOPE KIM AND KANYE STAY TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN’S SAKE
I’ve been reading that Kim Kardashian is considering divorcing her hubby – allegedly.
While at this stage it is simply hearsay, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest as Kim’s been married twice before.
She has two children with Kanye West and I’d be gutted for them if their parents didn’t stay together.
I can only imagine what it would be like for young children to go through a split at such a young age, let alone a very public one.
But when you’ve got fame and everything money can buy, I do wonder if love – genuine love – can ever really happen in Tinseltown.
The option of moving on is often so much easier than sticking with it and pulling through the hard times. Time will tell…
I LOVE THE ESCAPISM INVOLVED IN GOING TO WATCH A MOVIE
One of my biggest passions in life is film – I absolutely love the escapism of it all.
You could be having a really bad day, but it could be turned around in the blink of an eye by a good movie.
For a couple of hours you forget what’s going on in your own world and enter someone else’s.
I’ve now started a YouTube channel called Queen Of The Screen (that’s me by the way) reviewing movies.
On Monday I’ll be looking at movies that are released to watch at home on DVD or via streaming and on Saturdays it will be that week’s big cinema release.
This week I reviewed the Absolutely Fabulous movie – check out the channel and subscribe and, above all, let me know what you think of the film.
