British Airways have said they are replacing free food offered on short-haul flights with Marks and Spencer meals.

This is because you could riot about having to pay for a normal supermarket ready meal, but you just can’t complain about having to stump up for an M&S one, can you? The best you can do is tut a bit and write a strongly worded letter to a newspaper.

o Just wondering, has anyone in the world ever chosen sweetcorn as a first choice for an extra pizza topping? It just makes a pizza look anaemic and ill.

You just wouldn’t would you? Even if you’re vegetarian you’d pick pepperoni before sweetcorn. Except if you’re the jolly Green Giant maybe, but even then it would be a close call.

o A new study has found that British employees work an average of 38 extra working days above their paid contract every year.

Just wondering is this because we’re a) hard working or b) very bad at counting? Does anyone know or are you too busy to work it out?

o They’ve announced the winners of the best fish and chip shop and one that made the cut serves whole lobster and barista style coffee. This sounds like the poshest chippy in the country as well as one of the best. But if we are going to start having really posh fish and chip shops instead of traditional ones, what should we expect to see in them? Here’s a few suggestions: Instead of just malt vinegar, red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar would be on offer too; the scrapings would be renamed as ‘organic batter sprinkles’ which cost a pound if you want them added to your chips; your fish and chips would be wrapped in The Financial Times rather than any old tabloid newspaper; not just a choice of fish, but a choice of oils they can be cooked in either olive oil, virgin olive oil or extra virgin olive oil; chips served on a silver tray – not a polystyrene plate and pickled quail’s eggs and pickled shallots on the counter.
