A Super Pink Moon was visible over the city – appearing as much as 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than usual.
The April event occurs when a full moon is closest to the earth and it takes its name from the early springtime blooms of a pink wildflower native to North America.
Eager readers of The News, Portsmouth looked to the skies to capture the Super Pink Moon, which also appeared early this morning.
It wasn’t pink for everyone, but each photo our readers took does well to illustrate the phenomenon’s luminosity.
Here’s a selection of their images.
