Aspiring Hampshire singer, 11, enters Rowans Hospice's virtual talent show to raise vital funds and boost community spirit

Following the recent announcement that Britain’s Got Talent has been postponed until 2022, Rowans Hospice is stepping into the breach with virtual talent show Rowans’ Got Talent.

The Rowans’ Got Talent event invites anyone and everyone in the community keen to showcase their talent to take part.

Aspiring singer Nevaeh Dunmore, 11, jumped at the opportunity to join in and straight away sent a link to one of her recent recordings.

The Horndean resident said she has autism, epilepsy and dyslexia but doesn’t let this get in the way of her dreams.

Nevaeh, who hopes to one day headline the O2 arena or Wembley Stadium, said: ‘I wanted to help raise money as the people that need to receive care from the Rowans may still have dreams they want to achieve.

‘I also think it's important for the families and their children to get the support they need, every single smile counts towards how someone is remembered.

‘I love singing, so what better way to raise money than to do it while doing something I love.’

Proud mum Michaela is very supportive of Nevaeh, who is the junior ambassador for children's charity Just4Children and was recently asked to be a junior hero for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Michaela added: ‘Nevaeh works so, so hard and is determined to succeed with her singing - she has had some wonderful opportunities and sure there will be many more to come.’

Talented members of the community can submit a three-minute audition video by Sunday, and all entries will be shortlisted to 10 finalists by February 25.

Following the shortlisting, the charity will showcase the 10 finalists’ showreels on its social media platforms, inviting the audience to cast a vote for their favourite on the charity’s official poll.

As well as casting a vote, the charity is encouraging supporters of the final 10 Rowans’ Got Talent acts to donate to their favourite act’s JustGiving page to support hospice care.

The final will be broadcast on Facebook on Saturday, March 27, when the overall winner will be decided by the final number of votes cast on the official poll.

Debbie Pick, fundraising event lead, said: ‘We don’t want to let the pandemic spoil our fun, so from the safety of our own homes, we’re launching our own virtual edition.

‘It’s a great opportunity for anyone wanting to showcase their hidden talents, whether it’s singing, dancing, magic, musical theatre, or a complete family act, absolutely anything goes.

‘Dust off those top hats and dancing shoes, start limbering up the vocal cords and show us what you have got!’

Express FM will invite the winner of Rowans Got Talent to either perform or be interviewed on one of their radio shows.
