Aspiring singer, 10, performs a song each day for 100 days to brighten up lockdown

AN ASPIRING young singer has been belting out tunes each day for 100 days to keep smiles on people’s faces during lockdown.

Mia Lintott, a 10-year-old performer from Lovedean, has been uploading videos of herself to Facebook singing favourite songs from films and musicals and even learning new tunes to perform.

On Sunday, Mia performed her 100th consecutive song, with her efforts gaining plenty of compliments since she first started posting on Purbrook entertainer Mark Harris’ Facebook group ‘Entertain - it’s what we do best’.

Musical theatre performer Mia said: ‘I started my song a day because singing is my favourite thing to do. It makes me so happy so I wanted to make everyone else happy in this difficult time.

‘I am so proud of myself for making so many people smile and I will definitely not stop singing. Thank you to everyone for all your support.’

Mark presented Mia with a trophy to commend her for brightening up people’s days during the unsettling times, and has also invited Mia to record her first album at his home studio.

Mark said: ‘Mia was one of the first people to post a singing video on my page, she was extremely shy and it was almost like she didn’t want to do it.

‘From then on with all the positive comments and all the shares she became more and more confident and has never let us down.

‘Although a little trophy isn’t enough to thank her it’s certainly something she can keep as a memory.’

Proud mum Dee, dad Steve and little brother JJ, seven, have been cheering Mia on as her confidence in performing has grown over the last 100 days.

Dee said: ‘She’s just done amazingly, she’s been so determined. She’s always been quite shy and six months ago she wouldn’t sing in front of anyone.

‘For us, watching her growing and becoming what she wanted to be is amazing. She’s so confident now and she knows she can sing and people think she can sing, it’s been a really big journey for her.

‘She has touched the hearts of so many people without really realising.’
