Body of missing man, 18, is found at woods in Hilsea

A BODY has been found in the search for a missing teenager.

The 18-year-old, who has not been officially identified, disappeared earlier this week.

Search and rescue teams were deployed in an effort to find the missing teen.

However, Hampshire police has today revealed that the body of a male was found yesterday afternoon in Foxes Forest, Hilsea.

A spokesman said: ‘We can confirm the body of an 18-year-old man was located in Foxes Forest at around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed. A file is being prepared for the coroner.’

Police, paramedics and firefighters arrived at the Hilsea Lines just before 5pm, with emergency vehicles seen parked up near the Smile servicing garage, in London Road.

The News understands teams from Hampshire Search and Rescue had previously been deployed nearby.

Volunteers from Denmead Drone Search and Rescue also ‘self-deployed’ in an effort to find the teenager.

A spokesman for the organisation said: ‘We spent five hours at Portsdown Hill with ground searches and dog teams.

‘Everyone at Denmead Drone Search and Rescue is deeply upset by the outcome.

‘Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Search and Rescue did an amazing job in trying to find him.

‘We came along to the search purely as a back up, Our thoughts and prayers with the family at this time.’
